Know your obligations

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993, employers and users of lifting machinery must ensure it is safe to use.

DMRDriven Machinery Regulations, 2015 — inspection and testing of lifting machines and lifting tackle.
LMILifting machines must be inspected and load tested by a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector.
REGRecords of inspections must be kept on site and available to inspectors from the Department of Employment and Labour.
